Pinpoint Your Top Accounts and Prospects with Clay
Claygent automates large-scale research tasks that would be impossible to do manually.
Welcome Back
In version 1.4 of Clay Hacker, you’ll discover:
Why Claygent is your secret weapon for prospecting.
Supercharging your research with Claygent.
Identifying your best accounts in minutes.
Quickly finding your top prospects.
Prioritizing and identifying your best accounts and prospects is critical. But doing the right level of research takes forever, and every company I’ve been at has shitty CRM data.
So, we end up depending on predefined filters in ZoomInfo or Linked In Sales Nav and a generic prospecting list.
Using Clay and its AI Agent, Claygent, you can assign it any task to find any information or ask it any question to find any data on your company or prospect.
It returns this data nearly instantly, which you can then use to score accounts and prospects and write relevant outbound messaging.
This totally transforms the process from relying on Sales/RevOps, CRM data, and traditional prospecting tools.
You now have the best available self-service data on demand.
Once you have your Company and People table built, you can add a list of up to thousands of company names.
Simply adding the company names will automatically enrich the company’s information, trigger Claygent to perform the deep research tasks you’ve assigned, score and rank the accounts, find prospects, score and rank them, and finally write custom emails.
The process above could save hundreds or thousands of hours for most SaaS sales teams or organizations.
Yes, you could automate the sending of emails with a tool like Smartlead, too.
Let’s dive in.

Why Claygent Is Your Secret Weapon For Prospecting
Spending hours, days, or even weeks researching your accounts and prospects to target the right accounts and personalize outreach? Or maybe you never get to it?
Let Claygent handle that in minutes, freeing up your and your team’s time and stepping up our research to pinpoint the top accounts and prospects.
With Claygent, you don’t have to wait for Sales/Rev Ops or rely on shitty CRM data.
Claygent is an AI research agent that can answer any question, find out any information, and be assigned any research task about a company or prospect at scale nearly instantly.
It’s your new favorite employee, and it’s included in Clay.
Ask Claygent questions like:
Who are the investors of this company?
Who are the competitors of this company?
What is the company’s mission statement?
What was this company’s most recent blog?
What are the company’s key target markets?
What was the last podcast their CEO was on?
What is this company's most recent product?
What are the company’s main revenue streams?
Can you find this public company’s 10-K report?
Can you analyze their 10-K report for X, Y, and Z?
How many offices does the company have & where?
What awards has this company won in the past year?
How many employees does the company currently have?
How has the company’s stock performed in the past year?
What social media platforms does this company actively use?
What are the main challenges this company is currently facing?
Claygent will instantly return this information across hundreds or thousands of accounts or prospects.
You would never be able to justify the cost of doing this level of research manually.
Supercharging Your Research With Claygent
You will use Claygent to find answers and information to your questions above (or any question you want) that it will return in a column.
You can create multiple Claygent columns for multiple research tasks on a single row. You can keep doing this and improving the prompts.
Once Claygent finds the results you’re looking for, add hundreds or thousands of more rows to do research at scale nearly instantly. With under 100 rows, it’ll take minutes or less. If you have hundreds or thousands of rows, it might take up to 20 minutes or more.
To find Claygent, click the blue Add Enrichment button on the top right of your Clay table.
In the popup that appears, search for Claygent. It uses two credits per row, so be conscious of this if you run hundreds or thousands of rows simultaneously.
Once you select Claygent, you’ll now be in the Claygent interface.
If you’re just starting out or don’t have access to your own Open API key, you can use Claygent-Neon to select a model.
If you have your own Open API key or can get one from your sales ops team, you can save Clay credits by selecting an Open API model.
As you can see, you can give Claygent a mission, and then there are additional details where you can define the outputs.
You can then create a ChatGPT column to use generative AI to create an email based on the information that Claygent has found.
Now, you have hundreds or thousands of emails based on deep account and prospect research.
You can also use this data to score and rank your accounts and prospects, which we’ll discuss in the next section.
Identifying Your Best Accounts In Minutes
Clay has an awesome feature to score your rows (companies or prospects) by any custom data.
You can use this to score and rank your companies in a Company table or prospects in a People table.
Doing deep account research and then scoring/ranking them with Clay helps prioritize your territory as an AE, your sales team’s accounts, current customers for expansion, or an entire sales org’s CRM.
Get a copy of my Company table by clicking the blue button at the top right: Clay Hacker Account Scoring Table
All you need to do is add a Company name in the first column. You can add as many rows and Company names as you’d like.
This will automatically enrich siple company details including website and employee count.
I’ve also added a Claygent column to determine if they are a Fortune 500 company.
There’s another Claygent column to find out how many office locations they have.
The scoring system for my table is below. You can customize this based on data you use Claygent to find:
Employee count
1-999 1 point
1,000-4,999 2 points
5,000-9,999 3 points
10,000-19,999 4 points
20,000-above (you do have to put in a number) 5 points
Office count
2-9 1 point
10-19 2 points
20-49 3 points
50-above (you do have to put in a number) 4 points
Fortune 500 company
Yes 1 point
This could include specific tools a company uses by enriching their tech stack as a column in Clay and assigning points to particular tools if your solution integrates with them.
You could use Claygent to find which competitors your prospects are using and target them with relevant messaging.
You’ll continue to get more creative as you play ground.
To find new prospects at these companies, click Actions at the top right and click Find people at these companies...
Quickly Finding Your Top Prospects
Once you’ve done a people search and created a people table, you can use a similar process by adding columns to enrich the prospect’s data, find their contact information, and use Claygent to find custom data relevant to your ICP (ideal customer profile).
You can then use the row-scoring feature in Clay we used in the previous section to rank our accounts and rank all of your prospects to find the ones that are most likely to experience the pains and challenges that require your solution.
This is what it looks like:
This is a game changer because it allows you to find any custom data on a prospect and then rank them based on this custom data.
With Clay, we all have access to world-class AI agents and a scoring system to pinpoint the best accounts and prospects.
Preview For Next Week
Watch out for Clay Hacker every Friday.
Next week, we’ll cover using Claygent to find and analyze the 10-K reports to use this data to prioritize accounts and use it in our messaging to find mega deals.
First, it’s something everyone says they do but doesn’t have enough time to do across many accounts. Maybe if you’re a strategic AE with 4 accounts.
Second, we can analyze it instantly for anything we want.
Third, we can use this data to score accounts and laser target the best companies that are most likely to buy.
Last, we can use generative AI to write messaging about the challenges and goals in their 10-K.
Thank you for reading,
Clay Hacker
